ABOUT US
Natural Impacts Ltd is the brainchild of Dr Roger White who has over 30 years experience in the field of high strain rate testing. He has a unique set of skills being an award-winning engineer and having an academic background in materials science and shock physics.
It was a student placement with the UK Ministry of Defence in 1988 where he became an integral part of the team applying Finite Element modelling to ballistic impacts. He went on to complete a PhD which encompassed re-engineering the Split Hopkinson Bars (SHB) and developing techniques to characterise materials under isothermal and adiabatic conditions over a wide range of temperatures and strain rates.
In 1998 he was seconded to the Royal Aircraft Establishment at Farnborough to set-up and head the dynamic testing laboratory and it was there in 2003 that he saw the bird-gun facility close, so he seized in the opportunity to start his own business offering his expertise to the commercial sector. The current facility is a unique blend of MoD infrastructure on a secure site filled with state-of-the-art equipment operated by a highly skilled team of scientists and engineers and supported by an extensive workshop.
Natural Impact’s customer base is now worldwide (including the US, Japan, Europe, Australia) covering projects from the bullet train to drone impacts to atomic weapons.
